The Lookout at Lake Chelan: why are these houses so close together?

May 05, 2015

This development reminds us of the Sammamish Plateau. Who would come all the way to Chelan to feel like they are still in the city. With some prices upwards of $600k and higher end homes fetching over a million, this development is puzzling choice.

Lake Chelan Mountain Goats: Living with Nature and Wild Animals in Chelan

April 28, 2015

If you’re uplake, and lucky enough, you’ll see the beautiful white mountain goats that inhabit the steep cliffs of the Chelan Valley. Surefooted animals, they cling seemingly impossibly to the rocky shorelines of Lake Chelan. Mountain goats can sometimes be seen by boat, as an entire herd will venture down to the lake shore for a drink of cool water. The massively thick coat of the Mountain Goat helps it to withstand freezing winter temperatures of -50 degrees F. Mountain Goats are herbivores, meaning they only eat plant matter. They spend most of their time grazing on leaves and shrubs. Lake Chelan is just about the southernmost region of the North American Mountain Goat’s habitat. They are found mostly to the north in Canada, and also to the east in the Rocky Mountains.
